Genuine WWII shoulder badge of the 92nd Infantry Division.
It appeared for the first time on October 24, 1917 at Camp Fuston in Texas, shortly after the United States decided to take part in World War I. She arrived in France during 1918 but only took part in the final weeks of combat, during the Meuse-Argonne offensive. She was demobilized in 1919.
The 92nd division was reformed in 1942, during the Second World War. After two years of training, she was sent to Europe in the summer of 1944. She then participated in the Italian Campaign, during which she experienced heavy fighting, during which losses amounted to 3,200 men1. It intervened in particular on the occasion of the capture of Lucca and in the battles against the Gothic line. In 1945, it progressed rapidly along the Ligurian coast, entering Genoa on April 27. Among the soldiers of the division, two were awarded the Medal of Honor: John R. Fox and Vernon J. Baker.
