P-1913 Remington Bayonet for US M-1917 Enfield rifle of caliber (7.62 x 63 mm) and US Trench Gun
After the United States entered the war on April 6, 1917, the military authorities adapted the P-1914 Enfield rifle to the standard cartridge of caliber 30-06, in order to compensate for the lack of Springfield M-1903 rifles, thus creating the standard M-1917 rifle. To equip this new rifle with a bayonet, the United States simply adopted the P-1913 bayonet renamed the Model 1917 bayonet. No drain hole called "oiler" hole. The plates are held together by screws and slotted nuts, they are equipped with two deep vertical grooves to avoid any confusion with the P-1907 bayonet. All the metal parts of the handle, as well as about 25 mm on the blade are blued, this poor quality finish theoretically covers most of the markings.
Very good general condition.
